Prominence of the shrine : Couple without child will be blessed with the same on worshipping this Goddess. So this Goddess is called as “Karuvalartha Nayagi”. In this place, in the lifeblood of kakapujantar, Lobamuthradevi and Agastheeyar marriage was held. In honor of this sacrifice, at the source of the Cauvery in Karnataka, Talakaveri, considering flood issues, east facing Nandi was shifted to West facing. This lead to severe drought in both the states. So to get water back in Cauvery and to flourish both the states did yaga and the Nandi was shifted back to Eastward. Lots of people participated in this yaga and worshipped the God.
