Then the Srivaishnava prayed to Sri. Ananthavan saying “Swami! Please explain to me what are the true characteristics of a Srivaishnava”.

The characteristics of Sri Vaishnava should be like all these four”
After saying that, he also explained them.
1- Like a crane: Just as a crane, standing on one leg in the water, waits until it finds a fish that meets its expectations, discarding the fish it does not need, so a Srivaishna, abandoning his mind to worldly pleasures, prays to the Lord’s Kainkarya and faces the opposite. want

2 – Like a chicken: Just as a chicken stirs up the garbage with its legs, discards the unwanted material and gathers the grains of rice for itself, a Sri Vaishnava should lose sight of all the other tricks of the world and aim at attaining the refuge of the Lord in the end.

3 – Like salt: Salt plays a major role in cooking.’ Isn’t it a saying that unsalted goods are in the trash? At the same time, the salt we add in cooking is not visible to our eyes, but only gives taste to the cooking. Similarly, a Sri Vaishnava, in any group to which he belongs, should behave calmly and not show himself with pomp.

4 – Like you: You will come to see me and wait patiently even after it is too late for me to come back! This is also one of the most important characteristics of a Srivaishnava”.

‘ திருமலை’யில் திருவேங்கடவனுக்கு புஷ்ப கைங்கர்யம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த காலகட்டத்தில், திருவரங்கத்திலிருந்து ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவர் ஒருவர் அவரைப் பார்க்க வந்திருந்தார் .
அப்போது அந்த ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவர் ஸ்ரீ.அனந்தாழ்வானிடம் ” ஸ்வாமி ! ஒரு ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவனின் உண்மையான லக்ஷணங்கள் எவையெவை என்பதை எனக்கு விளக்கியருள வேண்டும் “…. என்று வேண்டினார்.
ஸ்ரீ.அனந்தாழ்வானின் விளக்கங்கள் :
1-: கொக்கு போல
2-: கோழி போல
3-: உப்பு போல
4-: உம்மைப் போல……

ஸ்ரீ.வைஷ்ணவனின் லக்ஷணங்கள் இந்நான்கினையும் போலிருக்க வேண்டும் ”
என்று கூறி விட்டு , அவைகளுக்கு விளக்கமும் அளித்தருளினார்.
1- கொக்கு போல : ஒரு கொக்கானது, நீரில் ஒற்றைக் காலில் நின்று கொண்டு, தன் எதிர்பார்ப்பிற்கு ஏற்றவாறு உள்ள மீன் கிடைக்கும் வரை, தனக்குத் தேவையில்லாத மீன்களை புறம் தள்ளி விட்டு காத்திருப்பது போல,ஒரு ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவனும்,உலக இன்பங்களில் மனம் ஈடுபடுவதை, புறக்கணித்து விட்டு ,பகவானின் கைங்கர்யத்தையே அனவரதமும் யாசித்து, எதிர் நோக்கியவாறு இருக்க வேண்டும் .
2 – கோழி போல : ஒரு கோழியானது, தன் கால்களில் குப்பைகளைக் கிளறிக் கிளறி, வேண்டாத வஸ்துக்களை ஒதுக்கி விட்டு, இறுதியில் கிடைக்கும் நெல்மணிகளைத் தனக்காகக் கொத்தி எடுப்பது போன்று, ஒரு ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவனும், லோகாயதமான வேறு உபாயங்களைத் தொலைத்து விட்டு,இறுதியில் இறைவனின் சரணாரவிந்தங்களைப் பற்றுவதையே குறிக்கோளாகக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் .
3 – உப்பு போல : சமையலில் உப்பு பெரும் பங்கு வகிக்கிறது.’ உப்பில்லாப் பண்டம் குப்பையிலே’….என்பது பழமொழி அல்லவா! அதே சமயம் சமையலில் நாம் சேர்க்கும் உப்பு நம் கண்களுக்குப் புலனாவதில்லை.ஆனால் சமையலுக்கு ருசியை மட்டுமே கொடுக்கிறது.அது போலவே ஒரு ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவனும், தான் சார்ந்திருக்கும் எந்த கோஷ்டியிலும், ஆடம்பரத்துடன் தன்னை வெளிக் காட்டிக் கொள்ளாமல் அமைதியுடன் நடந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் .அதே நேரத்தில் அவனுடைய நற்செயல்களால், அந்த கோஷ்டிக்கே ஒரு உயர்வை உண்டுபண்ண வேண்டும் .
4 – உம்மைப் போல : என்னைக் காண்பதற்கு வந்து விட்டு நான் வருவதற்கு மிகவும் தாமதமான பின்னரும், அதைப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் பொறுமை காத்தீர்கள் அல்லவா ! இதுவும் ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவனின் லக்ஷணங்களில் மிக முக்கியமான ஒன்று”…….
என்பதாக சொல்லி முடித்தார் .
